" The ten most important two-letter words: If it is to be, it is up to me." Anon
There was once a sage who wandered the countryside. One day a woman asked him to heal a sick child. A crowd gathered around them, as the sage began to pray over the child. Just then a man in the crowd yelled: "Do you really think your prayer can heal her, when medicine has failed?" The sage replied: "You know nothing of such things! You are a fool!" Enraged the man was about to shout back at the sage, when he went across and whispered in the ears of the angry man: "If one word has the power to make you angry, will not another have the power to heal?" That day two were healed.
If it is to be, it is up to me! How true!
We can respond in anger or respond in patience and understanding. We can fight or make peace. We can build or tear down. We can hold out a hand in a warm handshake or clench a fist. We can be what we want to be, if only we try. As we try to be healed of our infirmities, our children watch us - they are always watching. When we take one halting step after another, they silently applaud us. When we conquer our passions, they are edified and want to walk in our footsteps. What an awesome responsibility we have!
God bless.
